The first step in being prepared is education and training. The more you know the better chance you have in knowing what to do in any disaster. The next thing in being prepared is to have all the equipment you need for most emergencies. For example having clinical gloves, CPR mask and a face shield usually is all you need in most medical emergencies.[/cs_text][x_custom_headline level="h2" looks_like="h3" accent="false"]What types of Emergencies are there?[/x_custom_headline][cs_text]There are many types of emergencies you can encounter.  According to ACLS network they claim that most emergencies are dealt with from personal health, such as sudden cardiac arrest or stroke.  Any person who has shortness of breath, is unconscious, altered mental status, or is in severe pain can be a medical emergency.  You need to act quickly and gather as much information as possible for the paramedics who come later.

There are other emergencies that are not medical, such as earthquakes, typhoons, or tornado.  These emergencies are from nature and can cause injury to person or leave you stranded with little to no supplies.  These emergencies you need to have knowledge of your geographic location and know your surroundings to become prepared.[/cs_text][x_custom_headline level="h2" looks_like="h3" accent="false"]Emergency Action Plan[/x_custom_headline][cs_text]As we mentioned before being prepared is essential, and one easy way to be prepared is to have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP).  EAP is a procedural program to have around for when you encounter an emergency or disaster.  Having an EAP lets every person in your group to know what they need to do when an emergency happens.  This plan lets you know who to contact in a medical emergency and where the medical kits are located including the automated external defibrillator AED. The EAP shows where to exit the building during a fire, or where to go in any kind of disaster.  Your EAP could show where all disaster supplies are located.[/cs_text][x_custom_headline level="h2" looks_like="h3" accent="false"]Training[/x_custom_headline][cs_text]Training is essential for any emergency preparation. The more you practice, the better you can utilize your knowledge. Most people think that more you stock up and save the better you will be in an emergency.
